The Fine Print

Privacy Policy

Last updated: 22 October 2026

TetherPatrol.com is a character and community-safety project. This page says, in plain language, what information the site collects, where it goes, and what we do with it. Short version: we collect as little as we can, we store it privately, and we never sell it.

The Alert List

If you join the Alert List, we store your email address so we can send you the launch announcement and content alerts. That is the only use. Reply to any Alert List email and ask to be removed, and you are removed.

Reports and cases

If you file a report or a case follow-up, we store what you send: your name (if you give it), your email address, the platform, the account you reported, the category, your description, and any files you upload. Case records and uploads are stored in a private area of our server that is not publicly accessible and not indexed.

We use case information only to review and investigate the report, to follow up with you about your case, and — where a report shows a scam or abuse in progress — to pass the relevant details to the platform involved or, where appropriate, to law enforcement. We do not publish reporter names or email addresses. By design, the confirmation emails we send you contain your case number and nothing sensitive beyond what you submitted.

How long we keep it

Case records are kept while a case is open and for a reasonable period afterwards, so follow-ups and repeat offenders can be matched to earlier reports. If you want your case data deleted, email us from the address you filed with, quoting your case number, and we will remove it unless we are required to keep it.

Cookies

The public site does not set advertising or tracking cookies. The staff newsroom uses a single session cookie to keep the officer logged in; it carries no personal profile and disappears when the browser closes.

Children

The report forms are meant for adults reporting what they have seen. If you believe a child is being targeted online, contact your local law enforcement and the platform directly as well as — or instead of — filing here.
